As Director of Health, Safety, Security, Quality and Environment (HSSQE) George provides technical assurance Rock Group’s rolling stock and bus fleets, through all project lifecycle stages. In recent years, as part of this work, he has sought to raise the prominence of rolling stock safety and cyber security by design, in particular through robust software safety assurance. He also maintains Rock Group’s internal management systems, including assurance of its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) activities.

George’s background is in railway risk and safety management, legislation and governance. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Network Certification Body – Network Rail’s independent assurance subsidiary – and has been a Special Advisor on safety to National Air Traffic Services, the UK’s national air traffic control body, since 2017.  He is a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of both the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Safety and Reliability Society and is also the Visiting Professor of Railway System Safety at the Institute of Rail Research, Huddersfield University.
