Rolling Stock
Rock Rail provides innovative, value enhancing funding approaches for strategically important passenger rolling stock and other rail infrastructure. Since 2016, Rock Rail has secured £3.3 billion of institutional investment into new, state-of-the-art passenger trains, helping transform passenger journeys and supporting a more sustainable railway.
Rock’s game-changing approach to rolling stock funding has:
- Enabled long term institutional investors to invest directly into a new sector
- Driven better value for government, operators and passengers
- Extended the market for infrastructure finance
Rock Rail works closely with train operators and manufacturers to ensure a collaborative approach to design, manufacture and acceptance of our new trains, on time and to budget.
Partnering with leading train manufacturers including Alstom, Hitachi, Siemens and Stadler, Rock’s technologically advanced fleets of Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) and Bi-Mode Multiple Units (BMUs), offer significant passenger, environmental and operational benefits.
Rock Rail also has an extensive network of relationships with other leading industry participants, including train operators Transport UK, Govia, First Group, MTR and Trenitalia, as well as within the institutional investor sector which invests in its fleets.
It is continuing to build on its successful rolling stock financing and procurement model, pursuing opportunities to deliver similar benefits across other rail infrastructure sectors and new geographies including Australia, France, Germany and other mainland European markets.
