Rail Infrastructure

Building on its rolling stock financing expertise, Rock Rail is developing innovative funding models to drive enhanced value across other areas of rail infrastructure including digital signalling, electrification and depots.

Recognising the benefits of bringing track and train closer together, Rock Rail has already secured institutional investment for several rail infrastructure initiatives including depot upgrades, track side equipment and other ‘off train’ infrastructure as part of its new rolling stock investments. The investment in depot facilities delivers significant benefits to operators and the public sector in the form of simple funding structures, affordable rates of funding and substantially lower maintenance costs.

In discussions with rail partners and the public sector, Rock is developing other financing models capable of funding significant investments through institutional capital and helping deliver the same step changes to infrastructure, as it has to the rolling stock sector.

DEPOTS

Rock Rail has led investments in depot upgrades for three of its new rolling stock fleets on the South Western, East Midlands and West Coast Partnership franchises.

DIGITAL

Rock Rail is pursuing developments in the digital railway, including signalling. Enhancements in these areas will enable the full potential of its state-of-the-art, technology enabled fleets to be realised.

TRACK & TRACKSIDE

Rock Rail has invested in other associated off-depot and off-train infrastructure, including train cleaning and tanking equipment, as well as train inspection and texting equipment.
