Team Rock consisting of Matt Allen, Steve Dodd, Trevor Sturmy and Mark Swindell, together with Rock Rail’s Nick Watson who was part of the Flirt East Anglia team, managed to scale Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis as part of the annual Railway Children’s ‘Three Peaks Challenge by Rail’. It is the only event that does the 3 peaks by train with teams climbing the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales and taking a special train to each mountain. It is safe to say that the team found it one of the toughest physical challenges they have ever done!
Rock Rail is thrilled to have raised over £3,500 to support the work of the Railway Children charity which for the past 20 years has been providing protection and opportunity to over a quarter of a million homeless children across the UK, India and Africa who have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.
With over 40 teams from across the rail industry participating in this year’s challenge, the whole event has so far raised nearly £190,000, helping the Railway Children reach out and support even more vulnerable children.
A massive thank you to everyone who supported the team and made donations to the Railway Children. Rock Rail is still raising funds so if you would like to make a donation to the Railway Children please click here
