He has secured over £14bn of equity and debt finance for complex infrastructure transactions. He was a member of the Corporate Finance Exco responsible for People.

His responsibilities include reviewing manufacturing, test, and comissioning documentation, conducting manufacture stage-gate and acceptance quality inspections. Ensuring the highest quality product for the West Coast Partnership.
- [David Gould](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/david-gould/): David is Senior Fleet Manager at Rock Rail, where he plays a key role in supporting the South West project with responsibility for fleet asset management and performance. A Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, David brings over a decade of experience in the rail industry, with a strong focus on rolling stock engineering and fleet optimisation.

- [Garry Birmingham](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/garry-birmingham/): Garry Birmingham, Managing Director of Rock Road, brings extensive expertise in bus decarbonisation and operations, having previously served as Programme Director for Carbon Reduction at First Bus. In this role, Garry played a key part in shaping First Bus’s long-term sustainability strategy, including the delivery of the UK’s largest rapid charging hub in Glasgow—featuring 148 battery-electric buses and over 180 charging points - ready for COP26 in 2021.
- [George Bearfield](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/george-bearfield/): As Director of Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment (HSSQE), George provides technical assurance for Rock Group’s rolling stock and bus fleets across all stages of the investment and asset management lifecycle. He has a particular focus on enhancing the profile of rolling stock safety and embedding cyber security by design. He also leads oversight of Rock Group’s internal management systems, including assurance of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities. George has 30 years of experience in railway risk and safety management, system safety engineering, legislation, and governance. He has held executive, non-executive, and safety advisory roles with organisations including RSSB, Network Rail, and National Air Traffic Services. He is also a Visiting Professor of Railway System Safety at the Institute of Rail Research, University of Huddersfield. George is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Safety and Reliability Society.

James is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years' experience in the rail industry, predominantly in rolling stock engineering. Since joining Rock, James has been the Lessor Representative responsible for the successful delivery of the 25 new Siemens Class 717 trains that entered service on GTR's Great Northern route in late 2018, and the 58 Stadler Flirts that were successfully introduced on the Greater Anglia franchise in 2019 and 2020. He will also take on asset management responsibility for the 90 new Class 701 Aventra units that will be introduced on the South Western franchise in 2024.

He previously served as Project Manager at Netinera/Die Länderbahn for the MDSB Lot 2 trains, supporting their delivery and entry into service in Leipzig, and brings valuable experience from working on a Rock Rail fleet in Germany.

- [Kishan Sumanasekera](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/kishan-sumanasekera/): Kishan is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 7 years rail experience in various companies within the rail industry. He gained his Masters in Aeronautical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. Kishan uses his background in operational rail to implement effective solutions to problems using his analytical and problem-solving skills. He can express a broad range of technical skills, personal effectiveness, leadership skills and use rigorous logic and methods to produce solutions to difficult problems.
- [Louis Swindell](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/louis-swindell/): Louis began his career at Rock aged 16 before gaining five consecutive years of summer experience in all areas of the business. Following graduation from the University of Liverpool, Louis joined in a full-time role as an Analyst supporting Rock’s origination team and over his time, experienced the organisation grow from a boutique project developer into the UK’s leading financier of passenger rolling stock funding over £3bn of trains between 2016-2019.
- [Magdalena Winiarska](https://rock-group.co.uk/our-people/magdalena-winiarska/): Magdalena has over 14 years' experience in finance, having spent five years in audit at KPMG before moving into the rail industry in 2014. Her rail experience was initially gained at Eversholt Rail before she joined Rock as Finance Manager in 2019, returning in 2022 after a year's sabbatical. She is responsible for the delivery of all financial reporting for Rock Rail's SPVs, as well as Rock's group financial statements and tax compliance for all group and SPV companies.
